Many of the "real" trade routes went between major routes or through areas that were previously isolated by them. Minor hyperspace routes included the Ison Trade Corridor. These were favored by smugglers and outlaws due to their low amounts of patrols and speed that could be used on them. There were dozens, if not hundreds of minor routes that were typically much smaller and had less traffic. Major trade hyperspace routes included the Corellian Run, the Corellian Trade Spine, the Hydian Way, the Perlemian Trade Route, and the Rimma Trade Route. The destruction of such beacons could hinder travel to the system. Hyperspace beacons helped guide starships to star systems, refueling stations, and ports, and several beacons could act as guides through dangerous and less traveled parts of the galaxy. Star systems could have several or a single hyperlane entrance/exit point, meaning that such points could be guarded and fortified, and ports of access monitored and controlled. Chains of important star systems formed runs, which were vital navigational routes for trade and transit, and such routes could cross multiple sectors. Those routes were regarded as safe, allowing starships to travel without colliding with a celestial body in realspace. Hyperspace routes, also known as hyperspace lanes, hyperlanes, space routes, hyperroutes, trade routes, spacelanes, and runs, were established paths through hyperspace, which linked major worlds in the galaxy, just as roads linked major cities on populated planets. Billions of people depend on those lanes for food and other essentials." ― Senator Izzet Noor, to Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh " Dawn of Defiance: Gamemaster Primer" ( original article link) on Wizards." Chancellor, I must ask again, how long are you planning to keep the hyperspace lanes closed? Instead of coming out past the blockade, he flew to the Separatist command ship undetected, dropping out of hyperspace close to his target, then slowing to a stop. During the Battle of Gwori, the pilots had to be careful as the gravity fluctuation could have pulled them into the planet or they could have hit a Separatist cruiser.Īnakin Skywalker used a micro-jump as a way of appearing undetected, close up to an enemy ship at the Battle of Saleucami. It involved coming out of hyperspace past the enemy blockade, but was risky as it could have resulted in the user colliding with nearby objects. The precision hyperspace jump was a way of appearing behind an enemy blockade of a planet. Saesee Tiin had discovered the tactic before the Battle of Gwori. The micro-jump was invented by Jedi Masters Saesee Tiin and Plo Koon, who were the first people to implement it, in the Battle of Gwori during the Clone Wars. The Chiss Force Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo had perfected performing micro-jumps even without a planet or gravity-well nearby. Luke Skywalker used the tactic while battling the Yuuzhan Vong while defending Borleias. Anakin Skywalker performed a precision jump to survive the Battle of Praesitlyn. Some pilots utilized the gravity-well generated by a gravity well projector to drop into an area, such as a battlezone. The pilot of a starship would launch into hyperspace and allow a planet's gravity to pull it back out. I'm glad he wants to be here." ― Jorj Car'das and Dubrak Qennto discussing Force Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo Ī precision hyperspace jump, also known as a micro-jump, was a tactical jump into hyperspace over a very short distance, often within a single star system.
